• Clubs & Activities at Hopkins Elementary

    Hopkins Elementary offers many clubs and activities throughout the year.  Clubs may run for the entire year or for a limited time, meet before school, during school or after school.  For specific information on the club you are interested in, please select from the list below.

  • First Lego League

    Students build a robot, learn basic robotic programming, and participate in competition challenges.

    Audience:
    A team of up to ten 4th and 5th grade students

    Meeting Location:
    Technology Lab

    Duration:
    Every Wednesday through December 12, 2018 Every 3rd Wednesday beginning January 16, 2019  through March 20, 2019.

  • Technology

    Students will use use various software programs and applications to create projects and enhance their learning.

    Audience: 
    3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students

  • Girl Scouts

    Discover the power of G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)

    Audience: 
    Daisies (K-1), Brownies (2nd-3rd), Juniors (4th-5th)

    Sponsors: 
    Daisies and Juniors: From the Girl Scout Organization, 
    Brownies: Lauren Dart and Noelle Gardner 

    Meeting Location:
    Brownies will meet in the Art Room from 3:00 - 4:30
    Daisies and Juniors will meet in the Cafeteria 3:00 - 5:00

    Duration:
    Twice a month on Mondays after school

    Fees: 
    Registration fee - $25.   $5 per month for badges.  Can purchase uniform for $15.  

  • Fine Arts

    Students meet to learn different variations of the arts  including: dance, drama, and art.  The club will perform at various functions and events for the school and community.

    Audience: 
    K-5

    Sponsors: 
    Ms. Soto, Ms. Edson, Ms.Towe, Ms. Clyde, Ms. Carraway, and Ms. Smith-Hunter.

    Various locations in the school.

  • Girls on the Run Atlanta

    At Girls on the Run we inspire girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind. Trained coaches lead small teams through our research-based curricula which includes dynamic discussions, activities and running games.

    Audience:
    Girls in grade 3-5

  • Hopkins’ Running Club

    The Running Club is an activity to encourage fitness and healthy living through running. It's open to all students in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. The runners will meet in the upper gym before heading out to the course. The course is a 1/2-mile loop starting around the lower field then proceeding to the black then back around to the lower field. Each practice students will have run between 1-2.5 miles.

    Grades 3-5

  • Junior Beta Club

    Honor Society, meets to promote volunteerism and project learning.

  • P.O.W.E.R.

    The P.O.W.E.R. 2 School Based Mentoring program uses mentoring as a tool to assist in building character, promoting positive behavior and helping students reach their personal best in school, at home, and in the community.

  • Soccer

    2nd-5th grade students (no matter what experience) will learn soccer skills and play on a team! 3 Varsity High school coaches lead practices in the fall, teaching the students soccer skills with their great expertise!

  • Student Council

    Student Council is a great way to promote student involvement in school.  Representatives from 4th and 5th Grades will be selected by their peers to serve as year-long leaders in the school.  Student Council is designed to foster student leadership and support academic skills.  Our activities and projects will be conducted to benefit the school and its students, teachers, and staff.  It will hopefully teach all members that students can make a difference -- at home, at school, in their community, and in the world.
