Duncan Creek has a school-wide reading program that encourages students to read at home nightly. Students work to build reading stamina by meeting nightly reading goals set for their grade levels. The program will begins in September each year and continues through the end of April.
The program is designed to help students build reading stamina at home. On September 1st, will students receive a reading booklet. The reading booklet contains an at home reading goal and reading log for your child. As students meet the goal each day or week, parents will sign the booklet. Once students have filled all 20 squares on the grid, the booklet will need to be returned the student's teacher. On the last school day of each month, students who have completed the grid and have met their goal for the month will receive a stamp in their booklet and a prize. Once the booklets have been turned in and prizes have been given, students will need to move on to the next month's booklet page and begin recording reading.
