During digital learning, Gwinnett County School Counselors will continue supporting students' academic success, career development, and social-emotional growth, utilizing Zoom for individual counseling with students and/or their parents, classroom guidance lessons, small group counseling, and other means of correspondence with our students and their families.
Roles and Responsibilities of the School Counselors
As school counselors, we perform the following roles in order to promote positive development in academic, career, and life-skills domains:
- Individual counseling
- Small group counseling
- Core Curriculum/Classroom guidance
- Attend and participate in Student Support Team Meetings
- Consult and collaborate with parents, teachers, administrators, social workers, and students
- Provide information and resources to parents on a variety of issues
- Respond to school crises or emergency situations
When students face and endure hardship and difficulties in life, it can prevent them from doing their best in school. These hardships and difficulties can include:
- Student's Academics
- Friendship Difficulties
- Family Changes
- Anong Others!
Your school counselors are here to provide support to students through difficulties and uncomfortable adjustments that can be essential to a child's educational success. We are here to help! We look forward to working with our Minor Patriots and their families!
