8th Grade Spirit Club
Mission/Purpose: To establish a school spirit by allowing students to collaborate, engage in, and promote 8th-grade activities. Participants will grow in leadership skills, event coordination, and team collaboration.

Art Club
Mission/Purpose: Support student initiatives to act as peer leaders, research, and further skills in visual arts.
Sponsor: Ms. Rollocks
Target Audience: Any student interested in gaining a deeper understanding of art in grades 6-8.

BMS Student Council
Mission/Purpose: School Council is a school-wide organization to promote student involvement, leadership, and citizenship in our school in order to give students a voice. Students will learn the democratic process, the appropriate ways to affect change, and develop their ability to represent the student body and interact with the adults in our school and community.

Dungeon and Dragons
Mission/Purpose: Our mission is to learn about the game Dungeons and Dragons and play through adventuring campaigns together! Members will create characters and build an adventuring party that will explore towns, discover treasure, and battle monsters during fantasy quests.

Flute Choir
Mission/Purpose: This year Berkmar Middle School will have a flute choir, which will provide students the opportunity to perform in a small ensemble, as well as develop musicianship and instrumental technique.

Target Audience: 7thand 8th-grade students who are currently playing flute in the Berkmar Middle School Band.
When: Rehearsals will be Thursdays after school until 5:45 starting September 9th. Extra rehearsals may be called as we get closer to performance time.Where: Band Room

Intramurals
Mission/Purpose: This year at Berkmar Middle School, our intramural program is going to offer a variety of activities encouraging students to be active and choose healthy behaviors. The intramural program is open to all students attending BMS and will meet from 8:15 – 9:00 a.m. Students arriving at school prior to 8:15 should wait in the front lobby until one of the intramural directors escorts them to the gym. The attached permission form will enable you to participate in as many programs as you choose. Students are encouraged to attend as many as possible!Sponsors: J. Johnson and C. Lego Robotics

Spanish Club
Mission/Purpose: The Spanish Club is meant to bring together students who are interested in the Spanish language as well as the rich and diverse culture.

The Gardening Club
Mission/Purpose:Students will learn how to grow their own food, some even from scraps such as seeds from tomatoes, strawberries, and planting the bulbs of onions. Students will engage in take-home projects to create their own home garden and help care for the school garden.

The Writing Connection
Mission/Purpose:
Students will gain invaluable experience with journalistic andinformational writing, as well as practice public speaking skills to gather information for the school newsletter. Students will also have an outlet to showcase their creative writing skills and will also encourage other non-members to contribute their writing for possible publication. Club members will also gain exposure to different writers and literary works.

Mission/Purpose: To teach students the needed techniques and teamwork to complete and produce a product (yearbook). Students will be in charge of creating the yearbook layout, taking pictures at school functions, and adding any necessary pages into the yearbook. Students will also be in charge of marketing and selling the yearbook.
