Girls on the Run
Over a period of 10 weeks, girls in the 3rd through 5th grade participate in an after-school program. The Girls on the Run curriculum inspires girls to define their lives on their own terms. Throughout the season, the girls make new friends, build their confidence and celebrate all that makes them unique. The Girls on the Run lessons encourage positive emotional, social, mental and physical development. At the end of each three-month session, the girls participate in a Girls on the Run 5K event. Student Council representatives are students who follow the ROAR expectations, are encouraging and optimistic, and will listen to and stand up for others. These representatives may already be leaders, or may show signs of being a future leader, but all Student Council representatives are students who care for others and want to contribute towards making our school a better place for everyone. Readers Rally
Readers Rally is a reading quiz bowl style competition for students in 4th and 5th grade at Parsons. Students read books from a pre-determined list and answer questions about those books. Elementary school teams use a list of 15 books, chosen by a GCPS committee, and compete against other elementary schools in our county. Each Gwinnett County school may send one team of ten players or less to the Readers Rally event, and our team will be chosen prior to Thanksgiving break. Being involved in Readers Rally at Parsons ES is a wonderful enrichment opportunity for our amazing readers. Students who are interested in joining the Readers Rally Team should stop by the media center or check the media center website for the book list and to sign up. Students also need to return a signed parent letter to participate in Readers Rally.
