PE - Mr. D'Agistino, Ms. Grima, and Ms. Jones
PE is a part of the total school curriculum, which uniquely focuses on the physical development of the child through emotional, intellectual, and social needs. Our main focus includes:
- Psychomotor development through physical activities and skill development.
- Cognitive development in sports, games, dance, and fitness using many forms of assessment.
- Affective development in co-ed classes and cooperative games, sportsmanship, teamwork, building responsibility/accountability, and effort.
Our goal is to encourage children to be physically active, educate them on “why” they should be physically fit, and help them find a sport/activity in which they can participate in for a lifetime of enjoyment and health. Our PE program focuses on a variety of physical activities.

STEM Specials - Ms. Hurt
My name is Mrs. Chenita Hurt and I teach STEM at Jackson Elementary! What do Jackson Lions do in the STEM L.A.B.? Well for starters, STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math and L.A.B. stands for Lions Are Builders! Students have fun learning how to solve problems, work on team building, do experiments, and other hands-on-activities through the integration of the subjects that make up STEM. I teach grades K-5 in the L.A.B. Students learn about algorithms, write programs, coding, participate in Hour of Code, using technology like iPads, WeDo 2.0, Bee Bots, just to name a few! My goal is to teach students to have fun learning and to inspire our students to become our future engineers, roboticists, scientists, mathmaticians, and enterperneurs creating new jobs! One of my students said it best, "#magicallyscientific!"
