Mrs. Karen Purcell

The 2019-2020 school year is Karen Purcell's 15th year at Peachtree Ridge High School.  Mrs. Purcell has a BSEd in Math Education, a MA in Mathematics from the University of South Dakota, and an ED.S. in Instructional Design and Development from University of Georgia.  

Teaching is Mrs. Purcell's second career.  Before going into teaching, she was an pension consulting actuary for 21 years with Hewitt and Associates in Atlanta. She made a career change in 2004 and taught one year at St. Francis High School in Alpharetta and came to Peachtree Ridge in 2005.  She is grateful to be with students and teachers at Peachtree Ridge. Mrs. Purcell teaches AP Statistics and AP Computer Science Principles.  

Mrs. Purcell lives in Duluth with her husband, Stan and has two children, Laura and Michael and her dogs, Cooper and Loki.  Laura is a junior and Michael is a freshman at Georgia Southern University in Stateboro, Georgia.
