Ms. Lisa York
Ms. York is excited to be in her thirteenth year of teaching at Peachtree Ridge High School. Although she grew up in Ohio, she now enjoys being a Georgia Peach (and became a real Southerner after reading Gone With the Wind and running in the Peachtree Road Race). Previously, Ms. York taught on a Navajo reservation in Arizona, learning about sweat lodges and sheep slaughtering (not her favorite as a vegetarian). She is a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, which Robert Frost deemed the most beautiful campus he'd seen. Currently, she is a student at Georgia State University, working on her masters in English Education (she's particularly enjoyed her contemporary poetry course, James Baldwin seminar, and trauma theory class). She taught American Literature for eight years and World Literature for the four years and now teaches all seniors for language arts. Additionally, she is in her seventh year of teaching AP Literature. This year, Ms. York especially enjoys working with her student teacher, Ms. Rubio, a senior at UGA. Ms. York serves as PRHS' Team Captain for Relay for Life and works with Student Council. Highlights of the summer included traveling to India for three weeks, helping build a house in KY with her mom and sister, and visiting the Twins Days Festival in Twinsburg, OH, with her twin sister (also a language arts teacher). Best of luck for a successful semester to all her students!
