How do I join a club or activity at Northbrook?
Some clubs and activities allow you to show up and join, while others require a permission form or registration. Club meeting dates and information about sign-ups are communicated on our scrolling announcements. If you have questions about a specific club or activity, please contact the faculty advisor.

Anime Club

Purpose: To meet new friends with common interests
Planned Activities: Have discussions about popular Anime, learn to draw favorite characters and learn about new Anime to watch and read.

Art Club

Tricia.Boston@gcpsk12.orgPurpose: Northbrook Middle School Art Club’s purpose is to allow students who are interested in art to participate in independent and collaborative art related activities. The Art Club is a place for students to continue developing their artistic skills, explore new art mediums, and collaborate with other creative individuals to enrich their school and community.
Planned Activities: Students will explore different media, techniques and tools while using their artistic abilities to create art for themselves, competitions, community, and fundraisers.
Meeting Time: 8:00-8:55 AM

How to Join: The club is open to all students, but space is limited (Only 50 SPOTS AVAILABLE). There is a $25.00 fee for the cost of supplies. This must be paid through MyPaymentsPlus. Permission slips and fees are due by September 8, 2023. Making your payment online locks in your spot.

Crochet Club

Purpose: To learn a life skill that relaxes your mind, develops self-esteem as a result of being productive, & reduces stress
Planned Activities: Learn different crochet stitches and crochet simple projects like scarves and hats.
Meeting Days: 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month

How to Join: Attend the interest meeting on September 21. Pay a one-time $7 fee to cover the cost of supplies. Payments must be made through MyPaymentsPlus.

Drama Club

Purpose: Northbrook’s Drama Club is the club for all things performing arts. We are currently seeking actors, set designers, and backstage crew.

Eco Warriors

Purpose: To promote awareness of environmental issues and the opportunity each of us have to make a difference while developing peer communication and problem-solving skills in our social garden club.
Communication: Parents and students are required to use the "Remind App" (available on android/IOS) for updates on meetings throughout the school year. The class code is @nmseco
Requirements: Students who are interested in the environment, demonstrate Northbrook P.R.I.D.E. behavior. Grades 6-8th boys and girls are welcome to join.
Planned Activities: The Eco Warrior Club is a seasonal outdoor club that fosters gardening and social skills. Activities include:

Girls Who Code

Purpose: Girls Who Code is a free program for 6th-8th grade students to join a sisterhood of supportive peers and role models using computer science to change the world. Clubs offer fun activities through a flexible curriculum that adapts to a student's unique needs.
Planned Activities: Students will learn coding and make an impact in their community while preparing for a career in tech.
Meeting Days: Wednesdays
Meeting Time: 4:20-5:30 PM

How to Join: This club is open to all grades. Complete the application located near your grade level office, and turn it in to Ms. Tanner in Lab 406.

Heart & Sole: Girls on the Run

Purpose: Girls on the Run inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident.
Planned Activities: Girls will meet twice a week after school to make connections, learn important life skills, get active and HAVE FUN! At the end of the season, girls will celebrate their accomplishment at the Girls on the Run 5K.

Jr. Robo Lions VRC (VEX Robotics Competition)

Purpose: VEX competitions foster skills and capitalize on the motivational effects of competitions and robotics to help all students create an identity as a STEM learner. VEX competitions are also a great way to expose students to valuable soft skills like communication, collaboration, and time-management in a fun and authentic way.
Planned Activities: Students will prepare for and participate in competitions. Activities will include planning, building, crafting strategy, and competition strategy.
Meeting Days/Times: Tuesday afternoons from 4:20-5:45 pm; Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 8:15-8:55 am.

Readers Rally Book Club

Planned Activities: Members will read from a list of 10 books. We will discuss, practice our knowledge of books with practice questions, and prepare for the Gwinnett County Readers Rally Competition.

The Strategists Club: A Board Game Club

Purpose: This club is a platform for students with a common interest in board games & chess to come together, have fun, and build relationships. The Strategists Club encourages creativity and confidence by bringing people together to boost strategic thinking skills, cooperation, and social interaction.
Planned Activities: Students will play chess and a variety of board games (checkers, Uno, Phase 10, Connect 4, etc.).

Winter Guard

Purpose: To learn teamwork and flag/dance routines for competitions
Planned Activities: Students will practice two times a week to learn skills in flag spinning, dance and movement. These skills will be combined to create a creative routine that will be performed at competitions during the Winter Guard season (January - April).
Meeting Days: Mondays and Wednesdays beginning December 4
Meeting Time: 4:30-7:00 PM
Meeting Location: Cafeteria or Gym
How to Join: You are invited to attend a Winter Guard clinic on October 10 from 4:30-7:00 PM in the Northbrook Fitness Room to learn what it’s all about. Auditions will be held November 13-15 from 4:30-7:00 PM.
