Greetings Parents/Guardians,

We are excited about this school year!  It will be the best one ever!  We look forward to partnering with you to provide optimal learning opportunities in a caring and positive school setting, were your child can thrive.  You are a priority and your support is needed as we work in tandem to secure your child’s success.  At Lilburn Middle School, “Success is our Only Option”!  Lilburn Middle school has a rich legacy of improved academic achievement and is anchored in academic excellence.  My major focus is to facilitate shared-leadership to sustain our current gains and continue the initiatives that augment our success.

My mission in education started in Cleveland, Ohio where I taught both elementary and middle school for eleven years.  My experience in Gwinnett County began at Hull Middle School, seven years ago, where I served as a Sixth Grade Math Teacher.  I began my journey as an Assistant Principal in 2008, at Snellville Middle School, and later at Jones Middle School. I have enjoyed helping students to learn for the past 24 years.   I am both privileged and delighted to support teaching and learning at Lilburn Middle.

The Lilburn Staff is committed to helping our students achieve their personal best.  We know that our students will excel in a safe and secure environment where we set high expectations, provide challenging and engaging instruction, and support our students to be active learners.   We know that our partnership with you is a vital component to the emotional, social, and academic success of our students.  We believe that “Success is the ONLY Option” for our students, and we know that by working collaboratively with you, we can help our students reach their maximum potential.

Communication is key to staying abreast of your child’s progress and events happening at Lilburn Middle School.   Please make sure that you sign up for Parent Portal, ClassDojo, and “Opt-In” for Schoolmessenger.  You and your child can monitor grades, access online resources, and teacher course pages through their “My Student” login.   In addition, graded work and information about events will come home in your child’s Wednesday Folder (must be returned to his/her homeroom teacher no later than Friday).  Please update any phone numbers and addresses by coming in to our front desk with your id and new phone number, address changes require additional documentation (don’t forget to update your child’s clinic card too).

We truly need our students to be present for learning.  Please limit checkouts during school hours.  In addition, we are encouraging all students to read at least 20-30 minutes per night and write short summaries about what they have read.  Students should be bringing appropriate books to school daily.  Most importantly, we need our students to do all homework and review notes daily. Please check your child’s agenda book for homework assignments daily. Also, please be in attendance at school events. Please don’t hesitate to email me at or call us at 770-921-1776, if you have any questions or concerns.  Your participation and presence matters!  We appreciate all that you do to support our students in achieving academic awesomeness!

Warm regards,

Yvette Arthur
