    Mission/Purpose:  The Bulldog News Network produces the morning announcements and digital content to share with the school and community.

    Description of Planned Activities:  Students will develop leadership and teamwork skills through a number of on-camera and behind the scenes positions including anchor/feature, camera/lights, sound, teleprompter, studio director, video director, and switchboard operator. Students are selected during the spring of the year prior to the club start date. For example, students for the 2020-2021 club were selected in the spring of 2020.

  • Cross Country

    Mission/Purpose:  To provide a space for a competitive running team and to bridge the North running community for an easy transition to high school XC!

    Description of Planned Activities:  We either run indoors or outside, dependent on the weather. Tuesdays and Thursdays are for gaining mileage, while Wednesday is for workouts!

    Mission/Purpose:  DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.

    Description of Planned Activities:  NGMS DECA focuses on community service, competitive events, and leadership. We sponsor one to two community service projects each year and our members compete in DECA competitions at the regional, state, and international level.

    Mission/Purpose:  The main purpose is to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening in our kids, to improve the environment, and foster education regarding vegetation and plant growth.

    Description of Planned Activities:  We will clean and prepare the space for gardening and then plant seasonal vegetables, fruits and flowers.

    Mission/Purpose:  The NGMS Honors Orchestra provides an additional playing opportunity for students that are currently enrolled in our orchestra classes.  The orchestra plays music at the early high school level to provide challenge and extension for students that desire to push themselves musically.

    Mission/Purpose:  To educate young minds about genetics through fun, hands-on and minds-on activities.   

    Description of Planned Activities: Throughout the year, students will participate in hands-on genetics activities, listen to guest speakers from the field, investigate genetics concepts, and more! Here are a few examples of things students will be doing in Genetics Club this year: Learn about the human genome, participate in a DNA extraction activity, learn about using electrophoresis and DNA matching in criminal investigations, investigate epigenetics - what is it and how does it apply to me? and discuss the cloning of extinct organisms (think Jurassic Park).

    Mission/Purpose:  Our team will be participating in Math Counts events to demonstrate the high-level math knowledge, collaboration, and critical thinking skills of students at NGMS.

    Description of Planned Activities:  We will be flexing our deep understanding math concepts and problem-solving skills to compete in local Math Counts competitions. During our meeting times, students can expect to practice high-level mathematical questions that require students to collaborate and critically think about concepts in a limited amount of time. WARNING: there will be questions without a calculator!

    Mission/Purpose: The mission of Music Production Club at North Gwinnett Middle School is to expose students to various music production techniques through the use of the online DAW, Soundtrap. Students have the opportunity to create their own music via the Soundtrap platform and benefit from the topics that are delivered during the club period.

    Description of Planned Activities:  Students will be shown specific topics each week that deal with music production. And rather than creating a specific assignment, students are free to incorporate their acquired knowledge for use in their own productions. Student works may be released to the school Soundcloud site or be submitted for presentations or competitions as they become available.

    Mission/Purpose:  Readers Rally is a club for students who love to read and want to compete with their knowledge about specific books.

    Description of Planned Activities:  Readers Rally members will meet each week to read a set list of 10 books. Students will also write comprehension questions about the books and participate in practice buzzer rounds in anticipation of the county-wide competition. Any student may join the club; however, the competition team will be decided in December each year. Ten members of the club will move on to the county-wide competition in February.
