For Rising 6th Grade Students!  NGMS Required Summer Reading

Read, read, read during the summer months. This year, the required summer reading for each grade level encourages student choice of TWO books. Each grade level is required to read specific types of books. We encourage students to use these parameters to locate books that align with their interests and reading levels.

Students do NOT need to submit a formal written assignment as part of the summer reading program; however, students must fully read their selected books and be prepared to use knowledge from those books in their Language Arts classes when they return to school in the fall.

    Rising 6th Grade

Incoming 6th grade students should read one non-fiction book on any subject AND a fiction book. The fiction book can be either historical fiction or fantasy

    What is non-fiction?
Non-fiction books are based on facts, real events, and real people. You may choose any non-fiction book that interests you!

What is historical fiction? What is fantasy?

Historical fiction is a literary genre in which the plot takes place in a setting located in the past.  Fantasy is a genre of literature that features magical and supernatural elements that do not exist in the real world. Remember, you can choose your own historical fiction or fantasy book!
