General Information

  • The goal of the GCPS Community School program is to extend education and recreation to the community. The Community School is an extension of North Gwinnett High School and reaches out as a basic learning center to meet the various continuing education needs of our community. We strive to serve as a creative, quality community environment committed to developing and providing programs of academic and recreational enrichment for all members of our community.

We offer after-hours classes such as Driver Education, SAT Prep classes. We are always seeking input and suggestions for new Community School classes, so please let us know what you are interested in.

We also offer the community the ability to rent the facilities at the High School and our cluster schools (North Gwinnett Middle School, and Riverside, Level Creek, Suwanee, and Roberts Elementary Schools).

Please let us know how we can help you with your event!

    Driver’s Education Classes

The North Gwinnett Community School offers driver’s education classes throughout the school year and two classes over the summer.  The class includes thirty hours of classroom instruction and six hours of behind the wheel driving practice with a state certified instructor.  During the school year, the classes run 2:30-5:30PM for ten consecutive school days and the driving times are scheduled around the students’ schedules after the classroom portion is completed.  Summer classes are held 8AM-2PM for five consecutive days.  Classes are not held on holidays or other times when school is not in session.  The cost for this instruction is $345.00 with registration and payment made through MyPaymentsPlus.  Due to the Covid-19 situation, all classroom instruction is currently via Zoom session and the students drive one-on-one with the instructor in a sanitized vehicle with both the student and the instructor wearing masks.
