-
Gwinnett County Public Schools, located in the metro Atlanta area, is the largest school system in Georgia and continues to grow. As a school system of choice, the finest teachers, involved parents, and a supportive community are key elements in the district’s quest to become a system of world-class schools. In 2021-22, the school district is serving more than 179,000 students. One of every five Gwinnett County residents is a GCPS student.
Helping Students Achieve
Gwinnett County Public Schools provides a quality and effective education for all students by focusing on its core business of teaching and learning. Since its inception in 1996, GCPS’ AKS curriculum has reflected the collective wisdom of thousands of educators and community members who worked together to determine what students need to know and be able to do in order to be successful at the next grade level and in the future.

Our Schools
Our 141 schools and support facilities are safe, attractive and energy-efficient. The district and community strive to ensure they're well-equipped, well-maintained, and are an environment where teaching and learning thrive. In fact, our Strategic Direction for 2020-2030 includes components that focus on students, school climate, and operations, spotlighting our work to provide safe, secure, and flexible learning environments, to offer a welcoming environment for all stakeholders, and to cultivate a culture of success. As GCPS serves students, it looks beyond today’s classroom to provide learning environments for tomorrow’s students.
