Mr. Jose M. DeJesus

Mr. DeJesus was appointed as the principal at Cedar Hill ES in 2016. He has over 25 years in education with sixteen of those years working in a leadership role. His previous leadership experiences include Principal: Berkmar MS (GCPS), Chamblee MS (DeKalb County, GA); and Denn John MS (Osceola County, FL); Assistant Principal: Berkmar HS and Berkeley Lake ES (GCPS) and Lakeshore MS (Palm Beach County, FL). He has also worked as a Title I Specialist and as an ESOL coordinator. Before becoming an administrator, he taught middle and high school math.

Mr. DeJesus earned a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Florida Atlantic University and a bachelor’s degree from Chapman University. He is also a 2007 graduate of the GCPS Quality-Plus Leader Academy. Currently, he is a doctoral student at the University of Georgia.

Earlier in his professional career, Mr. DeJesus Honorably served our nation for ten years in the U.S. Navy. He is a proud father of three children, and his wife is also an educator working with students with Autism.

Ms. Tamika Beck

Ms. Beck has been with Gwinnett County Public Schools for seventeen years. She is a native Alabamian and graduate of Jacksonville State University. After earning a Master of Science degree from Walden University, Ms. Beck went on to earn a Specialist degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University. Ms. Beck has been an assistant principal at Cedar Hill for four years. Prior to coming to Cedar Hill, she served as an Assistant Principal at Ferguson Elementary School.  In her spare time, Ms. Beck enjoys reading, hiking, and spending time with family and friends. Ms. Beck is a lifelong learner and advocate for children, families and communities.

Mrs. Demetria Smith

Mrs. Smith has served as one of Cedar Hill’s assistant principals for five years.  Prior to Cedar Hill, Mrs. Smith served as assistant principal at Live Oak Elementary and a kindergarten and third grade teacher at Sylvester Road Elementary in Dougherty County. Mrs. Smith has received her Ed.S. from Troy State University, her M.S. from from Albany State University, and her B.A. from The University of Cincinnati. Mrs. Smith has a daughter who is a nurse, a son in the Army, and a daughter attending Kennesaw State University.

Mrs. Amy Steinberg

Mrs. Amy Steinberg has been with Gwinnett County Public Schools for 13 years. Prior to that, she served the Savannah-Chatham Public School System as an elementary school teacher. For the past three years she served Norcross Elementary School as their Math Coach for Grades K-5. This is Mrs. Steinberg's first year as an Assistant Principal. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Armstrong Atlantic State University and her Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Jones International University. Mrs. Steinberg is married with two girls. She enjoys spending time with her family and reading at every opportunity. She is so very excited for this opportunity to serve Cedar Hill Elementary and is looking forward to this new chapter of leadership as your new Assistant Principal.
