  • Art Club

    art club paint brush We will meet every other Friday morning at 7:30. Our first meeting will be October 12. We will be exploring advanced techniques in drawing and painting. We will also be exploring new concepts in weaving, paper mache, and in clay and textile design. It will be open to 4th and 5th grade this year.

  • Chorus

    chorus with music notes Chorus Mission: The Alford Chorus seeks to enrich our talented musicians as singers, teammates and performers.  This club is a performance ensemble that prepares challenging music to be performed at the highest levels possible.  Chorus is an audition-based group of 4th and 5th grade students that meet Monday and Wednesday mornings before school.  Students in this club will learn a variety of songs to perform at our Chorus concerts, occurring twice a year.

  • FIRST Lego League

    first lego robotics club with lego man FIRST has a set of Core Values that are Discovery, Innovation, Impact, Inclusion, Teamwork and Fun.  We will teach the students all the core values while completing this year’s Challenge of Into Orbit! We will be researching about space and completing the challenge mat while programming the robot. Students will also learn how to code a robot and how to get it to complete the missions that are assigned.

    The club will meet on Wednesday mornings at 7:30 until the competition.  We will start in September.

  • Google Coding Club

    google coding club with computer The mission of Google Coding Club is to create your own digital works of art! Use the computer to design your own animations, create a paint editor tool, and learn how technology is used in the art world! Bring your friends! No previous computer experience is necessary.  We will meet Fridays before school from 7:30 – 8:20. This club is open to 4th and 5th grade students.  We will meet on September 28, October 12 & 26, November 9, 16, 30, December 7 & 14, January 4 & 18, February 1 & 8, March 1, 8, 15, 22, and May 2, 9, 16.

  • Intramural Sports Club

    sports club The mission of Intramural Sports Club: motivate students to become physically active and excited about living a healthy lifestyle. In order to accomplish this, students will participate in team sports. Students will learn to use rules, strategies, techniques, vocabulary, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Alford Titan Intramural Sports Club is open to girls and boys in grades 3, 4, 5. We meet in the gym. 3rd & 4th grade meets on Monday mornings at 7:30 AM, 5th grade meets on Wednesday mornings at 7:30 AM.

  • Math Club

    math club with numbers Participants: Alford’s 4th and 5th grade students

    The mission of Math Club: The Alford Math Club is open to 4th and 5th grade students who have a love for Math. The students will have an opportunity to practice problem solving skills in a fun and non-threatening environment. They will learn to explain and defend their thinking, persevere, and work collaboratively with a team. All of the students will be invited to participate in the county wide Perennial Math Competition in March. Meeting times and dates  will be 7:30 to 8:15am beginning on October 3, 2018. We will meet on the following dates.

    October 3, 17, November 14, December 5, 19, January 9, 16, 23, 30, February 6, 13, 20, 27, March 6, 13

  • Modern Band Club

    modern band club with guitar Alford’s Modern Band club aims to extend the musical education of interested 5th grade students using popular music instruments such as guitars, bass, drums and keyboards. Members of this club will work on popular music from the last 50+ years while learning how to function as a group to create music with a more modern sound.  Students will be selected via application, based on the number of instruments available. The Modern Band Club meets before school on Friday mornings.

  • Reader's Rally

    readers rally with stack of books This club is limited to 4th and 5th grade proficient readers.  Members will read from a specified list of books between September and February. A final group of 10 members will be selected by the last meeting date in December.  A maximum of 10 players may attend the county competition that will take place in February/March of the school year on the date determined by Media Services at GCPS.
