Wellness Program and Activities | 2020-2021
GSMST attempts to seize on a variety of improvement opportunities and a current area for improvement involves student wellness. During the 2020-2021 school year, GSMST will be creating and unveiling a school-wide framework for student wellness that represents a number of important dimensions such a physical (i.e. intramural program), emotional (e.g. mindfulness activities), and intellectual (i.e. GSMST Reads) wellness. A wide variety of stakeholders will contribute to this work including students, parents, faculty, staff, PTSA, and School Council members. The assistant principal most directly involved in this area is Dr. Peter Jones.
Service and Civic Engagement | 2020-2021
One of the graduation requirements at GSMST involves the accumulation of community service hours including a minimum of 40 hours over four years with the option of 200 hours in order to earn a graduation cord. What truly matters is not the documentation of volunteer hours but the actual service to one's community and the growth and development of young adults in learning how to engage their Gwinnett County community and beyond as active citizens who live out the integrity we emphasize within our school. A regularly updated list of opportunities and events available for students can be found on the appropriate page within our eCLASS environment. The head of our Partnership Program, Ms. Nicole D'Antonio, serves as our Coordinator for Outreach and Civic Engagement. The assistant principal most directly involved in this area is Ms. Jana Czerwonky.
If your organization would like to be considered as a potential partner for GSMST in this area, please contact either of the individuals above or principal, IV Bray.
