Mrs. Mikki Asberry

Hey there Trip Family! My name is Mikki Asberry and as a native of Atlanta, I was born and raised on the east-side of the city, in Decatur, Georgia. I am thrilled to be a part of the Trip Elementary School family, and glean from the exceptional learning and leadership here in "Rams Country!" I attended both elementary and high school within the DeKalb County School System, and absolutely love the Gwinnett Public School system. I have served over the last 3 years in GCPS as a kindergarten paraprofessional and a substitute teacher.

When I am not teaching, I am spending time with my wonderful husband of 20 years. We have 2 sons who are both pursuing degrees at colleges here in Georgia. Both of our sons are graduates of GCPS high schools. I am a huge fan of all things purple, Atlanta Falcons football, good music and actual hard/paperback books!

This year is going to be GREAT! Teaching and Learning are my favorite activities and I consider myself a life-long student. The faculty and staff here at Trip Elementary are outstanding and I can't wait to journey along with your child on all of the learning adventures we’ll take together this year!

Bonjour mes amis! My name is Shannon Hayes and I love teaching and Trip Elementary! This year, my students and I are beginning a great adventure in the first ever, Gwinnett County, French Immersion Program. Throughout my life I have loved languages and learning. My father was in the Army and I moved at least 20 times. I speak French and Spanish, have lived in 7 states and 3 countries, and travelled extensively.

As a child, even though I often lived far away, my family always called Grayson home. My grandparents' farm was called Hope Hollow and my grandmother named Hope Hollow Road after it. I can even remember when our school was just a pasture and most of the roads were dirt! Our community holds a special place in my heart and I am so honored to be teaching here.

My family is very busy! I have 3 very athletic sons and most of our time is spent at the football or lacrosse fields. Andrew, the oldest, is in college at Carson Newman.  Nolan, my middle son, is in 10th grade at Grayson School and is a lacrosse goalie for Grayson. My youngest son, Palmer, is in 7th grade at Bay Creek and plays football and lacrosse for Grayson. We love the GRAYSON RAMS!

I am looking forward to another great year at Trip! And remember if you come by classroom, say "Bonjour!"
