Mr. Devon Williams

Principal

Mr. Williams grew up in the Metro Atlanta area, attending school in Dekalb County, where he graduated from Chamblee High School in 1988. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, majoring in Photographic Design and Art Education from the University of Georgia, and began teaching Art at Sweetwater Middle School in GCPS straight out of college. Although Mr. Williams enjoyed teaching Art, he was introduced to a relatively new class, Technology Education, and he was excited to switch directions. He immediately entered UGA’s Technology Education program, earning his Master of Education degree in 1997. In 1996, Mr. Williams had the opportunity to join the inaugural staff of J.P. McConnell Middle School as the Technology Education teacher. He spent the next eleven years at MMS, first as a teacher, then ultimately being promoted to an Assistant Principal position. In 2004, Mr. Williams earned his Specialist of Education degree, majoring in Occupational Studies (Technology Education) and minoring in Educational Leadership. In 2006, Mr. Williams was selected to lead Shiloh Middle School as Principal. After three years as Shiloh’s Principal, he was selected to open Couch Middle School in 2009. This was his proudest moment as an educator and leader, and he was humbled by the opportunity to embark on this new journey.

Mr. Williams is a proud husband, father, son, and brother! He is an avid Georgia Bulldog fan!

Dr. Nicole Irish

Assistant Principal

Dr. Irish has spent the last 18 years in education and began her career in Gwinnett County Public Schools in 2006. Dr. Irish graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Hofstra University in New York. She then started her career as a Pre-K teacher at a private school in New York. Dr. Irish later earned a Master of Science in Education in 2005 from Hofstra University and specialized in School Counseling. In 2005, Nicole and her family moved to Lawrenceville, Georgia and began working as a middle school counselor in Gwinnett County Public Schools. Following her passion for helping students, Dr. Irish began her work in improving student literacy. She obtained certification in Language Arts and taught Language Arts at the middle school level to students who struggle with literacy. Dr. Irish holds both a Specialist and a Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Argosy University, which she earned in 2008 and 2010, respectively. Dr. Irish began to serve in Gwinnett County Public Schools as an assistant principal in 2012. She enjoys spending time with her husband and raising her three awesome children, ages 20, 12, and 5. Dr. Irish also loves to read, play volleyball, watch basketball, spend time with friends/family and take road trips. Dr. Irish is very excited to serve in the Grayson Community and to be a part of the fRAMily at Couch Middle School.

Mrs. Christy Stephenson

Assistant Principal

As a student and graduate of Gwinnett County, Mrs. Stephenson has worked for GCPS for 16 years. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in English Education from the University of Georgia in 1998. She then obtained a Master's Degree in English Education and later a Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction both from Piedmont College. Mrs. Stephenson has worked in several middle schools throughout the county and was a charter Couch Middle School staff member when its doors opened in 2009. She first taught 8th grade language arts during the first three years of the school's inception and then moved into the position as the 7th grade administrator in 2013. The Stephenson family is an active member in the Grayson community and can be found at a GHS event or at Bay Creek Park any weekend. Her oldest daughter is a Freshman at Grayson High School, her youngest daughter is a 4th grader at Grayson Elementary, and her husband works as a service manager at a local automotive repair facility. Mrs. Stephenson's favorite thing about Couch...."The family who works here and the families we support!"

Mrs. Kim Yarini

Assistant Principal

Mrs. Yarini has been in education for 19 years teaching at both the elementary and middle school levels. Mrs. Yarini graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from North Georgia College and State University and later earned a Master of Science degree in Middle Grades Math and Science from Brenau University and an Educational Specialist degree in Teacher Leadership from Valdosta State University. Mrs. Yarini is certified to teach elementary, middle school math and science, high school math, and special education. She began to serve in Gwinnett County Public Schools in 2006 as a classroom teacher and has also served multiple schools as an instructional coach. She begins her career as an assistant principal for the 2018-2019 school year. Mrs. Yarini enjoys spending time with her family and raising her three awesome boys, ages 23, 17, and 15 as well as twin grandsons. Mrs. Yarini also loves all things Disney, running, and tennis, and is excited to serve in the Grayson Community and to be a part of the fRAMily at Couch Middle School.
