All Rams Read - Couch's Summer Reading Program
All Rams Read - Purpose and Plan
To encourage our students to become lifelong readers and to promote valuable reading skills that are vital to academic success, we require that each student participate in our summer reading program, All Rams Read. Each student is expected to read at least one book from the list for his/her grade level. This year, the reading lists consist of books written by New York Times best-selling author, Alan Gratz. The books are available at local bookstores and online booksellers, and can be checked out from the Gwinnett County Public Library.
During the first few weeks of school, each student will participate in a book group with other students who have read the same book. A staff member will lead the students in activities that promote understanding and enjoyment of the book and which analyze its plot, characters, setting, and theme. To model the importance of reading, all Couch faculty members will be reading at least one of the books from the summer reading lists.
Please review the appropriate list with your child to choose a book that will best suit your student, and make sure that he/she has read the book by the start of school on August 5. We look forward to an exciting kick-off to our year with many engaging activities centered on the summer reading selections.
