Dr. James Ammons

Dr. James Ammons is a Biology teacher at Peachtree Ridge High School. Dr. Ammons started teaching in Gwinnett County in 2007. He taught multiple levels of Biology and AP Environmental Science for several years before returning to Athens, GA to work on his Ph.D. in Science Education. After teaching for a year at Georgia College and State University, he is excited to return to the secondary level. This is Dr. Ammons’ first year at Peachtree Ridge. 

Dr. Ammons earned his Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate at the University of Georgia. He also has a graduate certificate in Conservation Biology and Sustainable Development from UGA. He is a Project Wet, Project Wild, and Project Wild Aquatic certified instructor. Dr. Ammons enjoys spending time with friends and family in the great outdoors. He is passionate about helping people find a better connection to the world outside. He is looking forward to a great year in the classroom and beyond. Go Lions!
