2026 Milestones Results

Georgia Milestones measures how well students have learned the knowledge and skills outlined in the state-adopted content standards in English language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.

GCPS students showed strong progress on this year’s state assessments. In science, the percentage of students meeting or exceeding grade-level expectations increased in every tested grade and subject. In math, students improved in six of the seven tested grades and courses, including Grades 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7, as well as Algebra: Concepts & Connections.

Eighth-grade students also showed gains in Social Studies, with more students reaching the Proficient and Distinguished levels. A key highlight is that nearly all GCPS eighth graders take the more challenging High School Physical Science course and assessment, earning high school credit before entering ninth grade. Despite this higher level of rigor, GCPS students continue to perform at a high level.

Overall, GCPS achievement continues to exceed both state and regional averages, demonstrating strong academic growth and success across the district.

GCOS exceeded both Metro RESA and the state in every Milestones mathematics assessment, from Grade 3 Math through Algebra.

In Science, GCPS students outperformed the state by 11 percentage points and their Metro RESA peers by eight percentage points.

In Algebra, GCPS students outperformed the state by 10 percentage points and their Metro RESA peers by five percentage points.

In Grade 7 Mathematics, GCPS students outperformed the state by 11 percentage points and their Metro RESA peers by seven percentage points.

In Social Studies, GCPS students outperformed the state by 11 percentage points and their Metro RESA peers by six percentage points.
