Gwinnett County Public Schools adopts FY2027 Final Budget and Tentative Millage Rate

     The Gwinnett County Board of Education unanimously adopted the FY2027 final budget and approved the tentative, unchanged millage rate during its second public budget hearing on May 28.

     The adoption of the FY2027 budget reflects the Board’s strong governance, the leadership of the Interim Superintendent, and the thoughtful input and feedback provided by students, families, staff, and community stakeholders throughout the budget development process. The district also recognizes and values the continued trust of Gwinnett County taxpayers, whose support makes these investments in education possible.

      The FY2027 total expenditure budget, excluding transfers, is approximately $3.5 billion, with the General Fund totaling $2.8 billion. This balanced financial plan demonstrates Gwinnett County Public Schools’ ongoing commitment to fiscal responsibility while prioritizing high-quality teaching and learning, competitive staff compensation, student safety, and comprehensive academic support for elementary, including pre-kindergarten, middle, and high schools.

Key Budget Highlights

  • The FY2027 budget totals approximately $3.53 billion, with reductions from strategic central office efficiencies that protect direct investments in schools and classrooms.
  • The budget includes staff pay increases, along with targeted adjustments for paraprofessionals, bus drivers, managers, substitutes, and monitors, recognizing the essential role employees play in supporting student success.
  • Continued investments in school safety and academic initiatives focus on early learning, reading and literacy, expanded computer science and STEM opportunities, college and career readiness, mental health support, facility improvements, and the modernization of transportation services.
  • As part of the annual budget and tax-setting process, the Board approved a tentative millage rate that remains unchanged. Millage rate hearings will begin at the end of July, providing additional opportunities for public engagement and transparency.
