      Josue Martinez, a senior Theatre Major at the School of the Arts (SOTA) at Central Gwinnett High School, is taking to the stage in Los Angeles as a cast member in Deaf West Theatre Company's production of Green Day's rock opera “American Idiot.” The production, known for its innovative blend of American Sign Language and spoken English, is a collaboration with the Center Theatre Group and will run at the Mark Taper Forum from October 2 to November 10.

     Josue's instructor and SOTA Theatre Department Chair, Lilliangina Quiñonez, expresses pride at Josue’s achievement. “Josue has always been dedicated to his craft. His passion and commitment to both theatre and inclusive practices have truly set him apart. This opportunity with Deaf West Theatre is a testament to his hard work.”

     Founded in 1991, Deaf West Theatre is known for its groundbreaking productions that bridge Deaf and hearing communities. Directed by Snehal Desai, "American Idiot" will feature a diverse cast of Deaf and hearing actors, continuing Deaf West's tradition of pushing artistic boundaries.
