Three Gwinnett County Public Schools soccer teams have been recognized by the United Soccer Coaches Association for their academic achievements during the 2023-24 school year. Brookwood High School’s Girls Soccer Team made the list with a team average GPA of 3.77. Peachtree Ridge High School’s Girls’ Soccer and Boys’ Soccer Teams made the list with a girls' team average of 3.8 and a boys' team average of 3.7. Notably, Peachtree Ridge High’s Boys Soccer Team has made the list for seven consecutive years.

"Individual and team academic achievements are our top priority for our soccer program at Peachtree Ridge High School," says Peachtree Ridge High Athletic Director Scotty McDaniel. "We are delighted when our student-athletes are rewarded for their hard work in the classroom. While on-field success and community leadership are also program expectations, the emphasis we place on academic success truly sets our student-athletes apart and prepares them for future success."

The association compiled a list of more than 200 soccer teams across the United States that posted a team grade point average of 3.25 or above. Of those schools, 33 had both their boys’ and girls’ soccer teams recognized.

"Our coaching staff members are not only great coaches, but they are also excellent educators who understand the importance of academics. I tell them that in 'student-athlete,' the word 'student' comes first because it is our top priority," says Brookwood High Head Girls Soccer Coach Dr. Michael Tolmich. "From the beginning, they know that academic success is a vital part of their future, and our program takes that very seriously. We have a great group of young ladies who work hard to excel both in the classroom and on the field."

Congratulations to all three teams!
