Former Lilburn Middle School student and current Boston Celtics shooting guard Jaylen Brown dropped by his old school recently to reconnect with the community. Brown, who developed some of his skills right here in Gwinnett County, shared a few nuggets of knowledge with Lilburn Middle students.

“I just want to remind you…that you…can do anything that you set your mind to. Anything in the world that you want to accomplish, you can do it,” Brown shares. “I went to the same school, and I’ve been able to travel all over the world. I’ve been able to do a lot of amazing things, and that journey, that journey started right here at Lilburn Middle. I believe in you, I know you’re going to do great things, and I’m so happy that I could come back and see you.”

Additionally, Jaylen played basketball with students on Lilburn Middle’s girls’ and boys’ basketball teams. Faculty and staff also joined in the fun; some even made a few baskets against the NBA All-Star.

Many students had the opportunity to have Brown sign their jerseys and basketballs. To celebrate his return, students created banners and posters in his honor, which he graciously signed.

By the end of the event, Brown left students with a powerful message: “Faith, consistency, and hard work are the keys to success."
