On October 29, Gwinnett students in grades 8, 10, and 11 took the PSAT free of charge. The PSAT is a part of the SAT family of assessments.
- PSAT 8/9 is the first assessment that students can take. It provides a baseline for understanding college and career readiness, helps students see their strengths, helps identify skills that students need to practice, and provides information about Advanced Placement (AP) courses that students should take during high school. - The PSAT National Merit Scholar Qualifying Test or PSAT/NMSQT is administered to students in grades 10 and 11. It is good practice for the SAT, allows students to see their progress over time, and provides information about AP courses that students should take during high school. As juniors, the PSAT score is used to determine a student's status as a National Merit Scholar Program participant and eligibility for other scholarships. Families, please note: The SAT for All program enables the district’s 11th grade students to take the SAT during the school day, without fees. GCPS 11th graders will take the SAT on March 18, 2025.
