Sounds of the Season: Holiday magic in every note

     Each year, Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) celebrates the magic of the holiday season with a festive showcase highlighting the diverse talents of our students and staff.

     Sounds of the Season features student musicians in choirs, orchestras, bands, and solo performances from across GCPS. This video showcases groups of all ages and types performing holiday music and bringing the spirit of the season to families and the community throughout December. GCPS Fine Arts Director, David DuBose, says Sounds of the Season began as a way to give families the opportunity to view and celebrate GCPS Fine Arts performances.

     “We have always taken the position that we want the community to see the wide variety of quality fine arts education and programming that exists in the county,” DuBose adds.

     Participation in Sounds of the Season is open to every GCPS school. DuBose says the Fine Arts Department always receives positive feedback about the program. “Viewers enjoy events that celebrate students and their talents,” he says. “Sounds of the Season offers a unique glimpse into students’ creativity, showcasing their engagement and pride in their hard work behind each performance.”

     DuBose emphasizes that Sounds of the Season is just a sample of the wide selection of talent in GCPS. He adds that GCPS schools produce approximately 5,000 performances each year, showcasing the wide range of incredible skills of our students. Fine Arts teachers schedule their own performances and, in partnership with GCPS TV, have them filmed for the Sounds of the Season program.

     “[Sounds of the Season] is truly a celebration of what the students are showcasing to their communities and compiled through our incredible relationship with GCPS TV to provide this great program to our whole community.”
