Immediately after school was dismissed for the summer, the GCPS Facilities & Operations team began tackling numerous projects that needed to be completed during the short summer break.

The Facilities and Operations team managed 10 HVAC system replacements at Brookwood HS, Dacula HS, Dacula MS, Duluth HS, Harmony ES, Nesbit ES, Parkview HS, Peachtree ES, Pinckneyville MS, and Sweetwater MS.

Additionally, they completed 14 large roof replacement projects at Brookwood ES, Dacula MS, Five Forks MS, Freemans Mill ES, GIVE Center East, Harris ES, Hull MS, Jackson ES, Lilburn MS, Mountain Park ES, Norton ES, Partee ES, Phoenix HS, and South Gwinnett HS.

Classroom Renovations were completed at 10 schools, including Beaver Ridge ES, Centerville ES, Dacula HS, Fort Daniel ES, Grayson ES, Gwin Oaks ES, Harmony ES, Simpson ES, Sugar Hill ES, and Walnut Grove ES.

Seven major asphalt paving projects were completed in parking lots and driveways across the county. These projects included Berkmar MS, Corley ES, Duluth HS, Grayson HS, Lilburn ES, Pinckneyville MS, and Stripling ES.

Other notable projects completed over the summer include a cafeteria and serving line renovations at Parkview HS and CTE Lab projects at seven schools, including South Gwinnett HS, Mountain View HS, Grayson Technical Education Program at Grayson High School, Parkview HS, Lanier HS, Dacula HS, and Five Forks MS.

Lastly, renovation work and classroom buildouts were also completed at GIVE Center West in time to welcome students back for the new school year. 

And here’s a fun fact to wrap it up! This work was completed, with the exception of GIVE Center West, over an 8-week summer at a construction cost of over $1M per day.
