Congratulations to the Brookwood High School Girls and Boys Swim and Dive Teams! Both teams won Georgia High School Association 6A Swim and Dive State Championship titles. Six A, which is based on school enrollment, is the state’s largest classification .

“A special season in athletics is often a reflection of the unique bonds forged among team members. The recent triumphs of Brookwood’s Boys and Girls Swim and Dive Teams exemplify this notion, as they achieved remarkable success through collaboration, resilience, and mutual support,” says Swim and Dive Team Coach Will Hildebrand.

Broncos 6A State Champions

“Our boys’ swim program has won eight state championships, and our girls have won nine since our school opened in 1981,” says Brookwood High Athletic Director Jason Dopson. “We have accomplished 'The Double' (winning both the boys and girls state titles in the same year) three times in the history of our school. It’s only been done six times by a public school in the history of GHSA, and we have half of them. It’s a testament to the talented swimmers in our community, the parents that support their swimmers, and the tremendous coaches we’ve had to lead our program.”

Dopson credits his local community for pouring into the swim and dive teams at all stages of their academic and athletic journey. He adds that Swim Atlanta, Spartans Aquatics, and Gwinnett Aquatics do an amazing job coaching and training these athletes so they can perform at the highest level.

“We have a tremendous feeder program that funnels talented swimmers and divers into Brookwood. During the summer, the neighborhoods in the Brookwood Cluster have swim teams that compete in the Gwinnett Summer Swim League,” Dopson shares. “Brookwood also has three year-round club teams very close to our community that train our high-level swimmers. Our swimmers show up with all the tools they need to contribute to our program because they have years of experience swimming in the pool.”
