Jordan Middle School learned how to “Rise-Up” this week during its 3rd annual Academic Pep Rally, hosted by Atlanta Falcons Tight End Kyle Pitts. Students interacted with Pitts and other Atlanta Falcons team members: Tyler Allgier, Darnell Mooney, Chris Blair, Felipe Franks, and Joshua Simon while participating in the parade caravan. All players were able to walk the halls and sign posters, shirts, and other items for students and staff.

Students gathered in the gym for a celebration of academic achievement and hard work, which motivated them to continue striving for excellence during finals week. Each student was given a number, then called in groups to retrieve various rewards from the prize table. Prizes included, but were not limited to, televisions, gaming chairs, headphones, and beyond.

Participating students were required to have passing grades in all classes, with no missing assignments, and had to have maintained perfect behavior.

“I feel great that we’re able to offer this, because a lot of our students wouldn’t have access otherwise,” says Jordan Middle Principal Melissa Miller. “They have done everything that we have asked them to do and more, and so even academically they are performing above what is expected because they work so hard knowing that this is coming.”

Students were also able to take pictures with the players, Falcons Cheerleaders, and Freddie the Falcon.

The Kyle Pitts Foundation aims to support youth by providing them with unique exposure to education and other opportunities that may be beyond their reach.

Its website explains that the organization strives to give children access to explore their interests.

“We believe that every child deserves the chance to explore their interests, develop their skills, and gain access to a broader range of experiences that can shape their future,” Pitts says. “Through partnerships with local schools, community organizations, and industry leaders, we aim to create a supportive network that fosters personal growth and encourages active participation in various fields, including sports, arts, technology, and leadership.”
