Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) students at Parkview High School recently welcomed the United States Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon to their school. The Silent Drill Platoon comprises 24 hand-selected infantry Marines who have met the strict requirements of this duty. During its visit to Parkview High, the Platoon executed a top-level drill demonstration for 20 minutes. The performance consists of ceremonial formations, patterns, and marches.

“This is truly an honor as the Silent Drill Team is booked two years in advance,” says Parkview High JROTC Instructor Scott Stimpson. Stimpson says spectators are always in for a treat. “Enjoy the precision, discipline, and dedication of these Marines who are world-class and embrace the national heritage brought to your community.”

Since 1948, the Silent Drill Platoon has performed annually around the country at parades, sporting events, schools, and other venues.

JROTC is a high school program administered by the U.S. Army that encourages students to develop their character, leadership skills, and responsibility. Students in JROTC may pursue military careers and choose among a variety of Navy, Marine, Army, and/or Aerospace-focused courses.
