Harris Elementary School, Couch Middle School, and Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology have been crowned 2024-25 Readers Rally Champions for their respective elementary, middle, and high school divisions. The Division Championship is the final competition for Readers Rally participants.

Before advancing to the championship, Readers Rally teams first compete within their respective school levels—elementary, middle, and high—engaging in a quiz-bowl-style format that tests their knowledge of selected books. Winning teams then move forward to compete at the division level. Teams at the elementary and middle school levels read books selected by a team of Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) media specialists. At the high school level, participants read selected titles from the Georgia Peach Award for Teen Readers nominees.

“In 2025, reading is more than just an individual activity—it’s a social experience” says GCPS Director of Library Media Services Julie Saunders. “Readers Rally brings participants together through their mutual passion for reading, making it both a social and rewarding event.”

With more than 1,500 guests in attendance at the initial competition, 87 schools challenged each other to advance to the Readers Rally Division Championship in which ten schools were selected to move forward. “The Readers Rally competition is now in its 19th year and stands as the largest in-person reading bowl in the nation,” Saunders adds. “Our department is proud to foster a love of reading through this exciting and competitive event. The energy and enthusiasm surrounding books during the competition are truly remarkable.”
