A Lanier High School student’s video concept and production talent earned 1st place recognition and a MacBook Pro in the 2025 Heads Up Georgia Student Video Contest, sponsored by Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB) and the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS). Tyson England, a 12th-grader at Lanier High, produced “A Night Worth Remembering,” a public service announcement (PSA) focused on the dangers of distracted driving. The video aired on December 17, during the 2025 GHSA High School Football Championships on GPB.

“My inspiration for creating this video was the potential ability to save someone’s life,” says Tyson, a student in Lanier High’s Audio/Video Technology & Film program, a Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) pathway. “Driving without distractions is essential to driving safely. I hoped my video would connect and capture the interest of people my age and help them understand the importance of safe driving.”

The contest featured six Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) student entries that ranked among the top 10 based on viewer “likes.” All PSA entries were required to focus on the dangers of distracted driving and creatively illustrate the importance of practicing safe driving while avoiding distractions. Each PSA also had to be exactly 30 seconds and feature a unique title.
