McClure Health Science High School senior Jasmine Osorio-Antonio is headed to college with the help of a major scholarship from Amazon. Jasmine has been named a recipient of the Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship, a nationally competitive award that supports students pursuing degrees in engineering, computer science, or other related fields.

Jasmine says she was shocked to receive the honor. “I honestly wasn't even expecting it because I've seen some other students win it. And whenever I saw it, I was like oh my gosh,” Jasmine shares. “I never thought about coding or things like that, but I've always thought about Amazon, especially with how innovative and adaptable they are with technology.”

Jasmine received the scholarship during a surprise presentation at her school, where her classmates, teachers, and administrators recognized and celebrated her achievement. The Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship provides financial support for college and access to professional development opportunities through Amazon. The program is designed to help students from historically underserved communities continue their education and prepare for careers in technology and engineering fields.

Teachers say Jasmine is truly a go-getter who has never backed down from a challenge. They say she is the type of student who elevates every classroom she is in. She not only excels academically but also encourages those around her to push themselves and strive for more. “Jasmine is the type of person who will never stop moving forward,” says Laura Berry, a marketing teacher at McClure Health Science High. “She is not only incredibly talented but also has a level of focus and perseverance that is truly second to none—if she sets a goal, she will achieve it.”

Jasmine was also named Gwinnett County Public Schools’ 2026 CTAE (Career, Technical, Agricultural, and Engineering) Student of the Year, an honor that truly reflects her dedication and impact. School leaders note that earning a scholarship of this level reflects years of consistent effort both in and outside the classroom.

“It is incredibly exciting to have Jasmine selected for this honor. Our students at McClure Health Science High are exceptional, and it is always meaningful to see their hard work recognized on such a large, national stage,” McClure Health Science High Health Science Teacher Jennifer Chambers shares. “This recognition not only celebrates Jasmine’s individual accomplishments but also highlights the strength of our programs and the opportunities available to our students.”

Jasmine can’t wait to get to college. “I’m hoping to major in computer science as well as environmental engineering. I'm a first-generation student, meaning that I'll be the first one to go to college [in my family]. I’ve been working with my mom cleaning houses since I was in 7th grade, translating all my life, and one of the biggest things that I took away from that experience is that education is the ticket to, you know, just bettering one's standard of living,” Jasmine explains. “And my dad, he's a construction worker, and he says that a lot of the time when he's working, he’s making buildings. He's doing all these things, and he's out there working in the sun, snow, cold, high temperatures. And for him, his dream is for me to have a really good job opportunity.”
