Parsons Elementary School’s Library Media Program has been named the 2025 Judy Serritella Elementary School Library Media Program award recipient. Sponsored by the Georgia Library Media Association (GLMA), the honor recognizes library media programs that empower students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information both in vision and in practice.

Sharon Britt, the school librarian at Parsons Elementary, says she’s honored that the library media center received this recognition.

“Our library media center serves as a welcoming, student-centered space that promotes pleasure reading, supports teaching and learning, and ensures all students see themselves reflected in literature. We aim to provide innovative programs that connect students to the wider world,” Britt adds. “This achievement is made possible through the dedication of our amazing library media clerk, Trisha Ripley, the support of our principal, Lenie George, our collaborative staff, and the guidance of the Gwinnett County Public Schools media leadership team.”

A professional organization dedicated to advancing school library media specialists and quality education in Georgia’s schools, GLMA presents this award annually. GLMA is the state affiliate of the American Association of School Libraries, a division of the American Library Association.
