PBIS Distinguished School List 2025

Georgia Multi-Tiered System of Supports Recognition
  • GCPS News

More than 70 Gwinnett County public schools have been recognized by the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) for their Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) programs for the 2024-2025 school year. PBIS is an evidence-based, data-driven framework proven to reduce disciplinary incidents, increase a school’s sense of safety, and support improved academic outcomes. It guides the selection, integration, and implementation of the best evidence-based behavioral practices for improving student behavior outcomes. PBIS encourages positive behaviors with recognition for those students who exhibit appropriate school conduct.

"When implemented with fidelity, PBIS shifts a school from reacting to behavior to building a culture where positive behavior, belonging, and academic success thrive," says Director of Behavior Supports and Student Discipline Grady Caldwell. "PBIS works because it clearly defines and teaches what success looks like academically, socially, and behaviorally, while reinforcing the belief that every student can meet high expectations when provided with the right support. These 74 Distinguished Schools have created predictable, positive environments where expectations are clear, relationships are strong, and students are focused on learning."
