State Superintendent to recognize GCPS schools for leadership in math and literacy

On Thursday, March 13, at 9 a.m., Georgia State Superintendent Richard Woods is scheduled to visit Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) to recognize schools for excellence in literacy and math. The ceremony, which will be held at the J. Alvin Wilbanks Instructional Support Center, 437 Old Peachtree Road, NW, in Suwanee, Ga., will honor 12 Literacy Leader Schools and 50 Math Leader Schools as designated by the Georgia Department of Education.
The Literacy Leader Schools distinction honors schools that have made exceptional progress in reading proficiency, while the Math Leader Schools recognition highlights schools excelling in mathematics instruction and student performance. Woods’ visit acknowledges GCPS’ commitment to excellence in literacy and mathematics instruction and highlights its mission to provide rigorous, high-impact learning experiences that prepare students for future success. Through a focus on strong instructional practices and student achievement, GCPS continues to set high standards in education.
