Gwinnett County Public Schools
Zuckerman Museum of Art
  • GCPS News

The work of three Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) art educators has been selected for display at the Zuckerman Museum of Art at Kennesaw State University. Karen Campbell at North Gwinnett High School, Kathleen Clark at Mountain View High School, and Linn Zamora at McClure Health Science High School were selected for inclusion in Zuckerman’s and the School of the Art’s exhibition, Playful Encounters. The exhibition is the third biennial for K-12 art educators in Metro Atlanta.

“This is an excellent opportunity for our talented educators to present their own work to the wider community,” says GCPS Director of Fine Arts David DuBose. “When our teachers are able to share their works, they are modeling the artistic expression we seek from our students in the classroom.”

Running through October 4, this gallery features art that “considers how art can be about play.” Each exhibition in the biennial series has a unique theme, reflected in its title, and connects conceptually to the work of the selected juror. This year’s theme, “Playful Encounters,” explores how art can embody play and how artist-educators engage in art-making for enjoyment and recreation. Play often sparks the imagination, leading to unexpected destinations and fostering unbridled, creative work.

Kennesaw’s Fine Arts Gallery is open Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday from noon to 5:00 p.m., and Wednesday and Friday by appointment. The gallery is closed on Sunday and Monday.
