     Three Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) Counselors have received state-level honors for their high achievements in writing, administration, and overall impact through counseling. Mi’esha Reynolds of Meadowcreek Elementary School, Dr. Kassia Morris-Sutton of Norcross Elementary School, and Dr. Heather Alvira in the Office of Counseling, College and Career Services were honored by the Georgia School Counselor Association (GSCA) through their annual Professional Recognition Awards.

Georgia School Counselor Association Professional Recognition Awardees:

  • School Counselor of the Year- Mi’eshia Reynolds, Gwinnett County Public Schools, Meadowcreek Elementary School 
     
  • Supervisor/Administrator of the Year- Dr. Kassia Morris-Sutton, Gwinnett County Public Schools, Norcross Elementary School
     
  • Writer of the Year- Dr. Heather Alvira, Gwinnett County Public Schools, Office of Counseling, College and Career Services

 

     “Mi’eshia Reynolds, being named Georgia School Counselor of the Year, exemplifies the dedication and care we see in our schools every day, making a lasting impact on the lives of students and their families,” says Dr. Demetria Williams, GCPS Director of Counseling, College and Career Services. “Dr. Kasia Sutton’s recognition as GSCA Administrator of the Year highlights her unwavering support for our counseling programs and her leadership in fostering a positive school environment. Dr. Heather Alvira’s recognition as Writer of the Year showcases her talent and commitment to advancing our counseling services, further empowering counselors to support student success.”

      The GSCA is a professional non-profit organization of school counselors at various levels whose mission is to support school counselors in the state of Georgia while also improving student academic, career, and social-emotional development.

      “We are incredibly proud of the achievements of our outstanding counselors and leaders. These honors are a testament to the strength of our counseling community and the profound influence they have on both students and the entire school community in Gwinnett County Public Schools,” Dr. Williams adds.

     All winners will be celebrated on Friday, November 8, at noon in Savannah, Ga.
