Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) is proud to announce that Trip Elementary and Bay Creek Middle School have received the distinguished LabelFrancÉducation designation for their French Dual Language immersion programs. This recognition, awarded by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs through its Agency for French Education Abroad, acknowledges the outstanding quality of the French bilingual education provided at both schools.

This is the second time that Trip Elementary has earned the LabelFrancÉducation accreditation, while Bay Creek Middle is receiving the distinction for the first time. Both schools have met the rigorous criteria for this honor, which includes teaching at least 20% of subjects in French, employing certified and fluent French teachers, maintaining a strong professional development plan, and providing an environment that fosters an interest in French culture.

Dr. Virin Vedder, Director of World Languages and Dual Language Immersion (DLI) at GCPS, commended the schools’ achievement. “This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our teachers and administrators in promoting high-quality bilingual education. Our students are not only mastering a second language, but they are also gaining access to invaluable global opportunities.”

The LabelFrancÉducation seal, established in 2012, is given to schools worldwide that offer high-quality French bilingual programs. GCPS schools will receive free access to French educational resources and professional development opportunities, in addition to being part of a global network. The district has also received a grant from the French Dual Language Fund to further support these programs.

This recognition is valid from 2024 to 2027. After this period, both schools can apply for renewal to continue being recognized as leaders in French immersion education.
