March 2026 Transition Update

March 2026 Transition Update

As part of our ongoing commitment to keeping families informed, Interim Superintendent Dr. Al Taylor recently shared a short video update about his Transition Plan and the work happening across our schools this year.

The Transition Plan has helped ensure the district continues to move forward with strong teaching and learning, safe and supportive schools, and clear communication with families while the Board of Education conducts the search for the next Superintendent.

In the video, Dr. Taylor answers questions about how the district is supporting students, staff, and families during this important time.

Supporting Strong Teaching and Learning

Across GCPS, teams are continuing to focus on what matters most—student learning in every classroom. This includes strengthening literacy instruction, using data to better understand student needs, and providing teachers with tools and professional learning to support student success.

Safe, Welcoming Schools

The district continues to prioritize student safety and well-being. Schools are building positive learning environments and expanding efforts that support attendance, school culture, and student wellness.

Working Together Across the District

District teams are also working together to improve coordination across departments, so schools have the support and resources they need. This work helps ensure schools continue to run smoothly and that students remain the focus during the leadership transition.

Staying Connected with Families

GCPS remains committed to clear communication and opportunities for families to stay involved. Initiatives such as the Family Advisory Council, community meetings, and updated online information help families stay informed and share feedback with district leaders.

Supporting the Superintendent Search

While the Board of Education leads the search for the district's next Superintendent, district leaders continue to support the process and maintain strong day-to-day operations across schools.

Together, we will keep moving forward—ensuring GCPS remains a place where every student thrives, every educator and staff member is supported, and all voices are heard.
