February 2026 Update from the Gwinnett County Board of Education: Superintendent Search

The Gwinnett County Board of Education continues its work to identify the next Superintendent of Gwinnett County Public Schools and appreciates the community's continued interest in and engagement with this important process.

Over the past several weeks, the Board, in partnership with Alma Advisory Group, has advanced through multiple phases of the search. These efforts have included a comprehensive review of applications and an initial round of virtual interviews. The Board is making steady and deliberate progress toward selecting the Superintendent for Gwinnett County Public Schools. Each round of interviews allows the Board to move from a broad review to deeper, more detailed conversations focused on leadership experience, vision, and alignment with the needs and priorities of our district.

Throughout the search, the Board remains committed to balancing transparency with appropriate confidentiality. Protecting candidate privacy is essential to ensuring a strong and diverse pool of applicants and to conducting a fair, thoughtful, and rigorous evaluation process. At the same time, the Board recognizes the importance of keeping the community informed and will continue to share updates at key milestones.

The Board's focus remains centered on selecting a Superintendent who is aligned with the district's Core Beliefs and Commitments and who demonstrates a deep commitment to academic excellence, safe and welcoming schools, and strong partnerships with families, staff, and the broader community. Every step of the process is guided by what is in the best interest of students and by the goal of closing opportunity and achievement gaps across student groups.

The Board continues to anticipate naming the next Superintendent in time for the 2026–27 school year, supporting continuity, stability, and a smooth transition for Gwinnett County Public Schools.

Thank you for your continued engagement, patience, and trust as this important work moves forward.
