Update from the Gwinnett County Board of Education: Superintendent Search

The Gwinnett County Board of Education continues its work to identify the next Superintendent of Gwinnett County Public Schools.

The search process remains underway, with a strong pool of applications being reviewed and screened. The Board is taking the necessary time to thoughtfully organize and conduct interviews beginning this month to ensure a thorough and deliberate selection process.

Since launching the search, the Board has prioritized meaningful community engagement while also maintaining appropriate confidentiality to protect the integrity of the process. This balanced approach reflects the Board’s responsibility to listen to community voices, respect candidates, and ensure a fair and comprehensive review.

The Board remains focused on selecting a Superintendent who is aligned with our Core Beliefs and Commitments and who is deeply committed to academic excellence, safe and welcoming schools, and strong partnerships with families, staff, and the community. As 2025 Board Chair, Dr. Simmons has shared during the search process, "The Board is charged with establishing a clear vision for the future of Gwinnett County Public Schools. While we value the progress and accomplishments achieved as a district, our responsibility is to look forward and ensure the system is positioned for continued success. The success of each and every student, especially multilingual learners, students receiving special education services, and students from low-income families, remains our highest priority, and we believe this path best serves the long-term interests of our district.”

The Board anticipates naming the next Superintendent in time for the 2026–27 school year, supporting continuity, stability, and a smooth transition for Gwinnett County Public Schools.
