College Board recognizes GCPS schools for the AP School Honor Roll

Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) celebrates the announcement of 16 schools being named to the 2025 AP® School Honor Roll by the College Board. This distinction highlights schools nationwide that are expanding access to Advanced Placement (AP) coursework and delivering results for students while broadening access to rigorous academic opportunities.

The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools that demonstrate success in three areas: college culture, college credit, and college optimization, across four levels of distinction: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. These indicators reflect efforts to increase AP participation, ensure students are prepared to earn college credit, and encourage students to take full advantage of advanced academic opportunities.

“Recognition as an AP Honor School represents a distinguished accomplishment that underscores a school’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence and rigorous intellectual preparation,” says GCPS Director of Accelerated Programs & Gifted Education Dr. Keena Ryals‑Jenkins. “Advanced Placement (AP) courses provide students with meaningful opportunities to engage in college‑level scholarship, strengthen critical‑thinking skills, and cultivate the habits of mind necessary for postsecondary success. This honor reflects both the demonstrated performance of students on AP examinations and the breadth of advanced coursework available to them. Schools earning this designation exemplify a dedication to expanding access to challenging academic pathways and fostering environments in which students can excel. I am deeply proud of our schools for their sustained commitment and exemplary efforts.”

For a school to be recognized on the AP School Honor Roll, it must be located within the United States (including U.S. territories) or Canada and meet each of the following criteria anchored in research-based relationships between AP and college outcomes:

  • College Culture: 40% or more of the graduating cohort took at least 1 AP Exam during high school.
  • College Credit: 25% or more of the graduating cohort scored a 3 or higher on at least 1 AP Exam during high school.
  • College Optimization: 2% or more of the graduating cohort took 5 or more AP Exams during high school. At least 1 of those exams was taken in 9th or 10th grade, so that students are spreading their AP experience across grades rather than feeling disproportionate pressure in any single year.

Of 497 qualifying schools, 39% earned a place on the 2025 AP School Honor Roll. The following GCPS schools earned a place on the AP School Honor Roll:
