Friday, January 10, 2025, will be a Digital Learning Day (DLD) for all students in GCPS

Friday, January 10, 2025, will be a Digital Learning Day (DLD) for all students in GCPS. This decision was made in an abundance of caution because rain, snow, and freezing temperatures are forecasted for Friday morning through Saturday morning.

If the forecasted storm causes widespread power outages in our county or if Governor Brian Kemp declares a state of emergency, our status on Friday may change to ‘all schools and offices closed.’ We will send an additional notification to families and staff through ParentSquare as needed.

Important information for GCPS families:

  • Please note that this means there are no sports, events, activities, or meal deliveries on Friday, January 10.
  • For the Digital Learning Day on January 10, schools and teachers will communicate the specific expectations for completing and submitting activities and work.
  • Any students who are unable to participate should work directly with their teachers on alternative activities and assignments.
  • Students should ensure they have their district-issued devices at home for this DLD.
  • Additional directions and information will be sent to students and families directly from teachers and schools.

Important information for GCPS Staff:

  • School-based staff will work remotely on January 10, supporting student learning or completing professional development. Weather.Day1.Jan2025.pdf
  • The Instructional Support Center and other administrative offices will be closed. Central office staff will work remotely on Friday, January 10.
  • Essential staff responsible for building and grounds maintenance and support are encouraged to complete their campus duties by noon on Friday, January 10, if safe to do so.
  • For questions about specific assignments, staff should communicate with their supervisor.

We recognize school closures and schedule changes disrupt family schedules. In emergency situations, such as snow and icy weather conditions, the top priority is the safety of students and staff.
