GCPS High School Hosts STEM Conference
WestPoint

A Gwinnett County school recently hosted the 2025 Leadership, Ethics, and Diversity (LEADS) in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Conference, presented by the United States Military Academy at West Point (West Point). South Gwinnett High School welcomed Berkmar, Grayson, Parkview, Central Gwinnett, and Discovery High School students. The attendees spent a full day engaged in discussions, workshops, and mentorship opportunities that encourage students to pursue a career in STEM.

“We were honored to serve as host to such a transformative event at South Gwinnett High School for the second year in a row,” says Dr. Alexis Williams, community chair of the South Gwinnett High School Public Service, Law, & Media Academy, which houses the Army JROTC Program. “In addition to highlighting the importance of STEM education, this conference also emphasizes the values of leadership, ethics, and diversity, essential character traits for shaping tomorrow’s innovators and leaders.”

The LEADS Conference reflects West Point’s commitment to fostering excellence in education and character development, building meaningful connections, and encouraging students to be inquisitive while deepening their understanding of STEM.
