GCPS recognized for commitment to music education

Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) has been named one of the nation’s Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) and The NAMM Foundation for the 18th year. The award program recognizes and celebrates school districts and individual schools for their support and commitment to music education and their efforts to ensure access to music for all students as part of a well-rounded education.

GCPS Director of Fine Arts David DuBose is proud of the honor.Being consistently recognized as one of the ‘Best Communities for Music Education’ is a testament to the continued commitment of our staff, families, and community partners. This honor reflects our shared dedication to providing exceptional music education experiences, supported by strong investments in facilities, equipment, and resources that ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive in the arts,” DuBose shares.

The BCME program evaluates schools and districts based on funding, staffing of highly qualified teachers, commitment to standards, community support, participation, and access to music instruction. The NAMM Foundation, with the assistance of researchers at The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas, evaluates participants on these factors.

The NAMM Foundation is the charitable arm of the National Association of Music Merchants, the global trade association for the music products industry. The foundation works to remove systemic barriers that limit access to music-making and career pathways in the music industry.
