Three GCPS Students Selected for AJC Athletes of the Year

Three Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) high school students have been selected by the Atlanta Journal Constitution (AJC) as AJC “Athletes of the Year.” The selection lists two top students from each of the 27 Georgia High School Association (GHSA) sports from across the state who have had outstanding performance during the 2024-2025 school year.

“GCPS is incredibly proud to have three of our student athletes recognized by the AJC as Athletes of the Year for their respective sports. This is a prestigious recognition that reflects not only the exceptional talent and dedication of these individuals but also the strength and depth of our athletic programs across the district,” says GCPS Director of Athletics Jason Holcombe. “It also speaks volumes about the commitment of our coaches, the support of our local communities, and the culture of excellence we strive to uphold on a daily basis. This achievement underscores GCPS’ ongoing mission to develop well-rounded student-athletes who excel in competition, academics, and character.”

The GCPS selections are as follows:

Tolu Adeyemi – Grayson High School, Boys Soccer

Baylor Stanton – Brookwood High School, Boys Swimming

Dominic Bambinelli – Mill Creek High School, Boys Wrestling
