Two GCPS students selected for the GaDOE's Student Advisory Council

Two Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) students have been named to the Georgia Department of Education’s (GaDOE) 2025-2026 Student Advisory Council. These students will serve as key voices representing their peers across the state, providing input to State School Superintendent Richard Woods on education-related issues and policies.

The GCPS students selected are:

  • Harley Davis, 10th grade, Discovery High School
  • Jackson Lodde, 12th grade, Lanier High School

Harley and Jackson are among a select group of 79 students selected from 1,235 applicants from around the state. Participants were selected for demonstrating exceptional leadership, academic achievement, and a commitment to making a positive impact in their schools and communities. As members of the Student Advisory Council, they will attend meetings with Woods, collaborate with other student leaders, and contribute to discussions that help shape the future of education in Georgia.

“We are incredibly proud of these students for earning a place on the Student Advisory Council,” said GCPS Interim Superintendent Dr. Al Taylor. “Their voices will help ensure that student perspectives are heard at the highest levels of decision-making in our state.”

The Student Advisory Council provides a unique opportunity for students to engage directly with education leaders, share their experiences, and advocate for meaningful change in Georgia’s public schools.
